Favourite Muckross memories?

" I loved the trip to Stratford on Avon to see The Royal Shakespearean Company perform Othello, it brought that play to life for me. Dissecting Pride and Prejudice in Sr. Rita’s English class, I still love that book. Cooking in Mrs McDermott’s class, I liked the corner station in the back, I felt like it was my kitchen, that class was fun. "

What do you miss the most about Muckross?

" It’s been a long time.. but when I think about my time there, I loved the camaraderie there was amongst us. Even if it was sitting on the old heating pipes complaining about the amount of homework we had to do, or playing hockey when it was freezing and you really didn’t want to play, but we were there and we were together. I miss my friends, Lorna, Elaine, Anne Marie, Clodagh O’D. I keep in touch with them, and when I go home we always make time for each other, but I miss the daily contact. I live too far away now. "

What are you up to now?

" I emigrated to Silicon Valley 25 years ago dreaming the American dream. I love being in the heart of where cool technological advances are created. I am not a Software Engineer but I love working with them. I’ve worked at Facebook for the past 10 years supporting the CTO - it’s pretty much my dream job, I feel very lucky to work with the people I work with, every day is different and fascinating. "

Advice for your 18 year old self:

" Your life will not be defined by your Leaving Cert results. I stressed and stressed over those exams, I didn’t get the points I wanted, I didn’t want to repeat my Leaving, I didn’t think I could take the stress of it again and had no idea if I’d get better results. I ended up going to Secretarial School, something back then I swore I would never do. Thank God I did, as it has led me to where I am now. "

FUN FACT: " My real name is Clodagh, but I quickly discovered that Californian’s can not pronounce my name, I have been called so many things between Clover to Claddagh to Clo-Dog, so I decided to go by what was a name only my family used for me, Chloe. We won’t talk abut my last name, but I have been very politely called Ms. Teriyaki which is actually sauce! "
